Before battle, crusaders would pray. After battles (if they won) they would then pillage and slaughter nonbelievers in the name of their God. Obviously the Christian God is in favor of death. The GOP is simply continuing the crusaders work at home.

And this was already heavily criticized by Christians in the Middle Ages.

Why didn't their all powerful god punish them by making them lose the battle then?

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf 1 points 7 hours ago

they lost like all the crusades they attempted

[–] Passerby6497@lemmy.world 6 points 4 days ago (1 children)

You might want to read about something other than the first crusade....

[–] StankStain@lemmy.today 2 points 3 days ago

reading is for nerds i'm way to cool for that

[–] zloubida@sh.itjust.works 2 points 4 days ago

They lost. They won some battles, but lost most of them and finally lost the Crusades. A lot of medieval thinkers said it was because crusaders were bloodthirsty and corrupt and that God made them loose.

God will know his own, after all.

Its theatre. We all know it.

Let's not start acting like MAGA destroyed the once benevolent Republican Party.

[–] BarneyPiccolo@lemmy.today 1 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Republican Party: Smaller Government, Lower Taxes, Responsible Economic Policy, Family Values.

MAGA: Corruption, Racism, Misogyny, Lower Taxes for the Wealthy, Higher taxes for workers, Enormous Spending On Military and Vanity Projects, Violence, Endless War, Enslavement, Genocide, Cruelty, Ignorance, Incompetence, Pedophilia

They are not the same. The Republican Party no longer exists, they are MAGA now. The only reason MAGA is hanging on to the Republican label is so that they can still claim that they represent the traditional Republican values, which is a lie. Republican Party has been fully replaced by MAGA, and they should only be referred to in an historical, scholarly perspective.

The Democratic Party should officially refer to them as MAGA, and Red State election ballots should list the right candidates as MAGA.

[–] alekwithak@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

The Republican party hasn't actually stood for or legislated towards those values since pre-Nixon. MAGA stands for the exact same thing the GOP has stood for for decades, they just stopped hiding it behind your list of buzzwords. I agree they are using the term 'Republican' as a veil, but we disagree on the timeframe.

Once benevolent.... weeeeeelllllllllll they were party in power when the emancipation proclamation was signed. Kinda did the Ole fliperoo on that one over the years though.

This is how you KNOW that there is no God, because if he really existed, we'd be looking at a photo of a smoking crater.

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf 1 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 7 hours ago)

well, he is extremely merciful

[–] numbermess@fedia.io 8 points 4 days ago (1 children)

And when thou prayest, thou shalt not be as the hypocrites are: for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and in the corners of the streets, that they may be seen of men. Verily I say unto you, They have their reward.

MAGA: Yeah fuckface libtard bitchtard but you forgot it's OK when I do it and doesn't count. Doesn't count! Doesn't count! Jesus loves ME (NOT YOU)

[–] luciferofastora@feddit.org 1 points 4 days ago

...but the libruhl gay commies are the special snowflakes

Love thy neighbor, do unto others as you'd have done onto you

republicans: kill the gays, got it!

[–] Tikiporch@lemmy.world 5 points 4 days ago

One of them dropped the last of the GOP self respect. Must have been tiny, they're having a hard time finding it.

[–] DarrinBrunner@lemmy.world 5 points 5 days ago

This looks like a good place for term limits.

[–] Kazumara@discuss.tchncs.de 5 points 5 days ago

I was wondering what they were looking for for a moment there. This is far out.

[–] Sabin10@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Are they praying before committing the least christ like act they'll likely perform that day?
