"Experts" in being cut out of your children's lives? I bet the "experts" aren't advising people in this situation to reconsider the morality of their stance on the topics and their behavior that led to such a strong response by their children.
I got curious enough to read the article, and the very first number one thing is....
"Before attempting a reconciliation with an estranged parent or adult child, Blake said the first priority should be stabilizing oneself. "What I tend to recommend first is to get that person stable, have healthy habits and build a community," he advised. "Good mental health practices are really important.""
In other words the very first thing to do if your kids cut you out of their lives is cheer yourself up about it and find community in people who share your political and societal beliefs and may be in the same situation. Of course. That way they can reaffirm their political views, hatred for the gays, and agree that it's awful that libral commie terrorists have brainwashed the kids.
IDGAF who this is coming from, this is actually really solid advice after any relationship breaking up.
every time you use the phrase "in other words", you need to be really careful if it is still the original message in other words, or if you are trying to spin in to something they did not say so it is easier for you to attack it -> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man
these poor creatures are often result of having no other people around them, so they fall into some internet rabbit hole full of shit. and in that case, finding real people who can help to ground you in reality, and "stabilize yourself", eg. get back to real world, is not bad advice.
of course it does not work if you find some similar assholes to pat each other on your back, but that doesn't necessarily invalidate the advice.
Yes, thank you, I'm sure Fox News has only the best of intentions and wishes for all of their older viewers whose children have cut them off due to their political and social views to reevaluate those views and change for the better.
Faux News has been the propaganda arm of the Republican party since its inception, so yeah no surprise here.
