Fun fact: In Japan you have to prove that you have parking space for it in order to buy a car, so these are all officially approved parking spaces for these vehicles!

The process iirc is as follows:

  1. go to the local government office
  2. fill in and submit a form and stamp with your certified stamp
  3. in a few days a government clerk comes to measure your parking spot
  4. sometime later the office issues a certificate for your parking spot
  5. you take the certificate to the car dealer...
