Neither Mazda nor Subaru are subsidiary companies, nor have either been owned by or owned Mitsubishi or Suzuki. And honestly, none of those are luxury brands either.

It is possible that some models from Mazda or Subaru have used parts manufactured by Mitsubishi or Suzuki in them, as parts sharing pretty common even today, but that doesn't make any assertion or subsidization. GM used Mitsubishi parts in Saturn cars, for example.
