I am woefully ignorant and would like to know what a prog is and why it is regularly inserted in to the butt. Thank you for your time.
Progesterone is an element of HRT that is commonly taken as a suppository
It's progesterone, another hormone besides estradiol. There are nearly zero studies on prog and transfems, but anecdotally it helps with mood, breast growth and libido for some people.
Taking it orally causes your liver to convert most of the progesterone into allopregnanolone, which makes you drunk lol.
It's a pleasant feeling but doesn't give you very high blood levels of progesterone. Boofing bypasses the liver completely.
In my experience, 400mg prog orally gave me almost undetectable levels (even tho the drunk feeling was nice 😭), but now, boofing the same amount, I have third trimester blood levels of prog. And I feel great, tbh 😆
