This isn't really true. A ton of Americans are ready to vote for a socialist and enough of the rest would come over when they hear about the policies. The tough part is getting through the DNC's filter and get past the millions they'll throw at your opponent to fuck over anyone who challenges their hegemony
Make no mistake, they establishment will encourage people to sit out the election rather than vote for a leftist. Vote blue no matter who unless it's a leftist then fuck you, is their mantra.
Sure that's why you can't actually cite anyone in power anywhere saying that.
Even fucking Hakeem "wanna buy my mom?" Jeffries will tell you to vote for the left and you'll still be here, lying like a Republican.
I think the implication is that The Democratic Party is not leftist, but rather centre leaning or even right wing in some interpretations. And then when an actual leftist candidate runs as a Democrat, the party works against them because they don't want to shift to the left at all.
