The system that enabled two Trump presidencies is just like you explain, much bigger than him. But Trump as an individual matters, too - his decades in the public eye primed people to have paranormal relationships with him in a way few can match, and his appearance of wealth attracted a critical mass of amoral helpers that otherwise might have divided to multiple fiefdoms of infighting.
I think you mean parasocial.
Despite my eager anticipation, paranormal visitations aren't available to him yet.
