Like many languages, languages of the Bible like Hebrew and Greek have grammatical genders. The aspect of God that smites things is grammatically male. The aspect of God that conveys spiritual strength - usually translated as "the Holy Spirit" - is grammatically female. Progressive movements of Protestantism and Judaism see God as both genders: one of the two creation stories in Genesis states God created man AND woman in God's image. The focus on the male aspect of God, and the second creation story in Genesis with the rib thing, is a conservative movement hang-up and not a general religion thing.

There was a reddit scandal last year where the mods of the ChangeMyMind sub agreed to let an AI lab research what arguments people on the sub found persuasive by writing fake responses. Claiming to be from an impacted group turned out to be a top persuasion factor.

And differences in average upper body strength between men and women are used to deny women work in jobs that involve lifting things. It can be done in a misogynist way like a blanket ban, or it can be done in a more knowledge-seeking way like requiring a physical therapist to evaluate lifting ability as part of the hiring process and only accepting candidates that can safely lift 50 pounds or whatever. There are structural incentives for the blanket ban in the form of the extra cost, time, and overhead management of the physical therapist evaluation program, but it has benefits of ruling out unusually unfit men who would likely get injured on the job as well as expanding the candidate pool to include unusually fit women.

I don't know what the equivalent to a professional evaluation of lifting ability would be to certify someone as SafeToDate.

The framing that I learn from all the work projects that lose out to the fire of the day really helps me stress less over all the unfinished work. I am better able to do the initial evaluation efficiently and stop working at an earlier stage on things with cost/benefits ratios that don't justify, and more likely to successfully identify fixes when projects that do justify coalesce.

Would still be nice to fix all the things I know are broken, but I am mostly at peace with the system as it is.

It takes only a small amount of risk to make an activity a bad choice. If 5% of people who walk through a neighborhood are mugged, anyone with a choice will avoid walking in that neighborhood, even though an overwhelming majority of 95% would be fine.

The calculation around dating is similar. If there is a 3% chance going somewhere private with a guy would result in nonconsensual sexual activity, it's not worth doing. Not fair for the 97% or whatever of guys who have normal behavior boundaries, but life isn't fair.

Targeted import taxes to compensate for companies getting subsidies from their government fosters competition. Blanket banning all imports removes competition and results in poor quality expensive products. Good for the local companies but bad for consumers.

But "targeted" is too complicated for many people. A ban is easier to understand, and gets a lot more vibe support.

It's interesting to see them just kinda spread out without a noticeable nest-type structure. Google AI says this species looks for somewhere with a 360 view to keep their chicks. Neat that strategy works for them.
