As I'm sure most people would, I almost just hit Checkout but happened to see the text below. I am also sure I would have caught/removed it from the check-out page but maybe not. I did complete my order without 'package protection' but am sending an email and probably won't order again unless their response is acceptable.

Edit: I'll probably send the email after I get shipping confirmation :)

Sucks that they tried to hide it, but I definitely recommend getting it. Of the 10 times I ordered from them so far, 2 of them arrived with a broken bottle. When a bottle breaks, you don't want that box in your house... I let the delivery guy know right away what he likely got on his hands from touching the box, so he didn't touch his eyes or anything before cleaning them. With a picture of the broken bottle, they let me toss the entire box and resent the whole order. Both times. I wouldn't bother if it was just a tier 1 or 2 that broke, but one of those times it was da bomb... and the other, it was that years last dab.

I wonder what they do for replacements when people don't get that, do people need to send it back? That would suck for everyone.

if they can't ship their products safely, that's on them.

I'm not the one choosing the shipping service, they are.

It is on them, unless you get the insurance, then its on the insurance and you get a much better experience. They could either raise the price for everyone, or raise the price for people that want it raised...

My one and only order from them came damaged, and was replaced no questions asked without the insurance.

So they don't package there products currently and instead sell you insurance? Until you sign for an online order it isn't yours so if it breaks it's on the seller to send a replacement. They may get back to the shipping company for reimbursement but as a customer I don't care and don't need to know. It's not my fault you ether didn't package glass bottles in enough foam or the shipping company stompt your package nether are my problem I bought a product from you and until I receive what I ordered in the advertisemed state you haven't completed your side of the contract.

Yep for sure, they 100% will fulfill their obligation at their cost if you don't get the insurance. And if you want them to do it that way, it's very much an option you can choose. But I recommend the better option.

if you pay with a credit card, your cc provider likely provides this shipping insurance already. and there's chargebacks for the rest of cases.

[-] Tarquinn2049@lemmy.world 0 points 10 hours ago* (last edited 10 hours ago)

Until you do enough charge backs that your card flags you as a problem. And you can of course go with the option of doing the work yourself to get reimbursed and settling with your cards system. But this one is much nicer. If the cards insurance was this nice, I wouldn't recommend the better one.

I thought they sold their stuff through Heatonist? Or not anymore?

The handful of times I ordered from Heatonist, I had no problems whatsoever.

Besides the Queen Majesty Scotch Bonnet & Ginger bottle being wayyyyy too fucking small. Man that stuff is so goddamn good.

They do, and honestly to my eyes the shipping already looks like overkill for safety, but have received "rounded" boxes way too often to have any idea how a product ever arrives whole.
