USPS whistleblower describes new plans for voting by mail hidden from the public (www.cnn.com)

The US Postal Service effort to develop a sweeping new system for verifying mail ballots has invited a host of IT concerns among agency officials, with some describing the process internally as a “sh*t show,” according to a new whistleblower report released Tuesday by a Democratic senator.

The unnamed whistleblower is alleging that some of the procedures USPS is planning – under mandates put forward by President Donald Trump – have been hidden from the public. Those procedures will make an already complicated and risky plan even more vulnerable to potential mass disenfranchisement, the whistleblower says.

The new report – which was assembled by the whistleblowers’ lawyers and released by Connecticut Sen. Richard Blumenthal – comes as multiple courts are considering the legality of the proposal, which would require that states submit to USPS lists of their mail-in voters. The agency will not deliver ballots for states if there are any discrepancies between the voter information in the USPS system and what’s picked up by agency scanners on the envelopes of the ballots.

No. That is not a solution. The USPS plan is to not deliver your ballot to you when you request it.

When election officials bring ballots to their USPS site for delivery , either the entire batch of ballot envelopes or a sampling will be physically scanned – depending on where the ballots are being dropped, according to the whistleblower. If just a single ballot envelope scan does not align with the information in the portal, USPS will refuse to deliver the entire batch of ballots while the discrepancy is being sorted out.

Emphasis mine. You can request a ballot, but there is every possibility that the ballot will never be delivered for you to fill out. Early voting is going to be a much more reliable way to insure that your vote has a chance of being counted.

Any idea what the plans are in Colorado? Yeah, printing it out would be the best option.

Still get to fill it out at my leisure and drop off at my leisure, with no concern for harassment by some Marklar douche or their ICE buddies. No lines. No stress trying to remember what to fill out or take a crib sheet, etc.

Also - very convenient and I love telling the Marklars in other states that Colorado has been voting by mail for a very long time and I never stand in lines. They hate to hear it. They want voting to be a chore, especially for people that live in the "wrong" areas. :)

When it comes to Colorado, so far, it doesn't seem like we have the option. At least not yet. They did give us an additional SEVEN days for voting, because everyone can see what kind of fuckery donnie and the cons are up to.

Starting in November, Colorado voters will get an extra week to receive and return their mail-in ballots under new legislation signed by Gov. Jared Polis that also takes steps to insulate the state from federal interference.

Under House Bill 1113, election officials can begin mailing ballots 29 days before an election, and drop boxes must accept ballots for 22 days before Election Day, each an increase of seven days.

Also, this might be where they have allowed for some emergency decisions that would permit us to print our ballots.

And it establishes a committee that could be convened in such an emergency to help draft new rules “to ensure the proper administration of an election.”
