This is just for Americans. From Americans. Americans are complaining. They are literally allowed to vote against this kind of behaviour.
On the Google article it was Google’s fault, on the Apple article it’s Apple’s fault. These are American companies run by American billionaires following American rules.
I feel like maybe the problem here is not Lake America, but America

Which federal or state law in the US commands them to rename Lake Ontario again? Please elaborate.
I suspect they use the official data source for place names for the US. Changing that would be extra work
