Never fear. Bidets were invented in the late 1600s

Rome had sponge on a stick I believe. Beats splinters, but not bidets.
Those were for cleaning the toilets, they look almost exactly like a modern toilet brush. The Roman’s wiped with their hands like most everyone else back then.
