What the heck, is this a new "feature"? Does this also happen on other android flavours like AOSP or GrapheneOS?

Always been an issue on wireless AA for most VPNs. Just exclude the Android Auto app or put an exclusion for the IP range mentioned in this thread.

Doesn't work since they've baked AA into the operating system a couple years ago
