Needing to lie to a large group of people assumes malice from said large group of people. There's no reason to tell your co-workers every detail of your life, but there's absolutely no need to lie about the things you do unless you have reason to believe they're out to get you.
How did you build the bridge across that leap in logic?
I can see the logic, especially if we’re assuming the person who feels they need to lie isn’t doing something wrong. Though that’s mostly because I can’t think of a scenario in which people get angry or create problems because of a refusal to discuss certain topics or an innocent truth without malice (or completely out of line nosiness).
I can’t tell if I’m lacking in imagination or if I’m just more comfortable associating extreme nosiness with malice, though.
That is not a leap in logic, but considering your response I'm questioning the kind of person you are.
The kind of person who tries to make sense?
