I really hate that companies being hostile to their customers has become normalised such that it's really expected.

There's very clearly a right and scrupulous thing to do. Not having an obligation to do that is not an excuse not to.

Companies always has been hostile when they are so big that they are only fathomable as market entity. Privatise gains, socialise losses.

I disagree.

Yes companies have privatised profits and socialised losses since forever, thats not what I'm talking about.

Its not that long ago that you could talk to an actual person in customer service who at least had a supervisor with the authority to do provide an appropriate resolution.

Now the standard mode of operation is to simply close ranks, and make a PR statement like this... "we're not going to do that simply because you can't make us".
