I went AMD on my most recent upgrade (9070XT) for a few reasons.
Price was a bit of a consideration, but I could have easily swallowed the cost of 5070Ti.
Minimizing friction with a potential Linux transition was a big one.
Above all else, though, Nvidia doesn’t feel like a gaming company anymore, they’re an AI company. With the effort that has gone into DLSS5 and Framegen, it feels like they envision a future where the visual aspect of games is going to be left to be hallucinated by their cards.
I prefer my art made by humans. Games looking like games is a big part of why I play them, the limitations in each generation of graphics have forced the hand of many creative solutions and workarounds that lend themselves to unique visual styles.
Yeah, I went with the same card for the same reason actually. Bazzite runs way better than Windows!
I freaking love Bazzite, also if you have a weak laptop slap Aurora on it. It's crazy good too, same family.
I have an old ThinkPad I use for distro hopping, was using Mint but I might give that a try.
