Well yeah, anything that's in the news is gonna end up on a porn site. Curtailing sex work in general, yes. Lots of conservative Orthodox folks over there. Russia too. They're basically the same people. That border used to feel like Schengen before Schengen.
I have no idea how it is these days, but in the 90s there was a lot of trafficking going on in eastern Europe. Curtailing sex work in general might've been seen as a necessary evil to reduce that. Make your country as boring as possible to predators.
