I feel like they often make games boring and grueling enough these days that there are contexts where this actually makes sense. Not any games that I'd play, but the "keep you grinding to keep you engaged" is tragically a real development strategy these days. Good luck monetizing an engaged AI though, serves them right. Maybe this will force developers to focus on good games again rather than addictive games.
