Guess I’ll go do the dishes while the computer is playing its own games…

And putting it on your channel, and monetizing it.

And now you need to run 1300 channels just to make the same value you got in that one channel you used to actually own.

And the content creation industry skyrockets and more data centers will need to be built

Running a game for any reasonable amount of time this way will bankrupt you may times over from token overspend. This is just to make investors horny, it's not getting released in any meaningful way.

Wait until this AI starts making nazi salutes in minecraft and rename your game to meinkampf.

The people making decisions at these companies, the business idiots, are too far removed from real life and real users.

They're stupid. They're bad at their job. They don't deserve their money and life of comfort.

Fuck Microsoft. Don't give them any money.

One of my favourite stories about how dumb these people are, is tge story about the guy who invented the Wii controller. He tried selling his ideo to microsoft and PlayStation first and the xbox guy was so rude to him that someone had to apologize for his own boss. At PlayStation, the guy he met refused to look at him and even acknowledge his existence until he just left. So he went to nintendo anf they made the controllers. Meanwhile PlayStation made tgese weird ice cream cones that hardly worked and no one wanted and microsoft made the kinect that hardly worked and no one wanted.

Kinect was so much cooler than people will admit, the hybrid controls were great, like in Battlefield where you could lean irl to lean in game or use voice commands for all the stuff on the communication wheel.

Is this a conclusion microslop came to from "people watching others playing video games"? Like I am guilty of that myself, but never in hell I thought to let a machine play. At least watching people play most have personalities and it's interesting to see the decisions made. or skill if it's competitive games.

[-] Jarix@lemmy.world 8 points 5 days ago

Ais playing for people will have quirks not dissimilar to personalities and humans love novelty. This feature is probably dreamed up with streaming in mind. To make it easier for entities to take over the space from people. I dont see this being something targeted for people who play games inspite of any promotion or advertising claims. It's about serving techbros more tools to techbro all spaces humans create value for themselves.

Oh is that what kids are doing now? Let's take that from them and make them come to us for it. For every trend there is a suit trying to control it

In case one desperately needed a non AI alternative, progress quest exists and has been around since 2002

[-] EFreethought@awful.systems 4 points 4 days ago

They do not want humans producing anything, and now they do not want humans consuming anything. Is there any place for humans in their AI future?

Ew. What? No. Fuuuuuck no.

I feel like they often make games boring and grueling enough these days that there are contexts where this actually makes sense. Not any games that I'd play, but the "keep you grinding to keep you engaged" is tragically a real development strategy these days. Good luck monetizing an engaged AI though, serves them right. Maybe this will force developers to focus on good games again rather than addictive games.

[-] Architeuthis@awful.systems 5 points 5 days ago

This feels like a problem readily solvable by not playing shitty games.
