I didn’t know whether there were generally agreed-upon gradations of autism, but I imagined they would be needed in the psychiatric profession. https://counselingcentergroup.com/levels-of-autism-explained/
most people seem to read it as gradations of autism -- or atleast anecdotally so -- but actually it's gradation of exhibited behaviors like the article in your link tries to explain. asd1, 2, or 3 are just umbrella terms to try summarize it since it REALLY IS a spectrum of behaviors.
Of course: the map is not the territory.
