"How dare people I don't like give away software"
A political analysis of the founders and leadership behind every product you use must be an exhausting way to live your life.
Unless you propose to gather all those somewhere and "deal with them", the far-right people are still people. And if they’re not breaking the law, they should enjoy all possible social activities and the fruits of their labor etc. Basically whatever every living human would want and be deserving of.
Your asking is unreasonable. And we all know that if the far-right people are excluded, they’ll just make a "better" Linux community elsewhere. Then the whining will be about them not letting any of the extremists far-left fury Marxists on it ever again.
Also, this hyperbolic inflation of ad hominem "fascist" labeling just makes the word lose its meaning, and makes people lose their respect/belief in what you're saying. If you want to have a rational discussion using critical thinking, attack the argument not the person. Define words before using them. Tell us what "fascist" means to you, and why you think it applies in this context. Then listen to what people say and try to understand their perspective before writing them off as some kind of lost cause.
If instead you're not interested in a debate, you've already made up your mind and believe there can be no other valid perspectives, well, then maybe you weren't looking for truth OR intelligence in the first place. As a rule, strong feelings about issues do not emerge from deep understanding.
I still don't see a definition of fascist, only baseless accusations with the worst possible interpretations of their posts.
From DHH's blog:
Please tell me what the charitable interpretation of this is, and how it is not leaning towards "remove the foreign animals by force before they destroy our beautiful white culture"
EDIT: Let me not forget the best bit:
He did not call for them to be shot, he expressed that he would like to deport homeless vagrants who were not Danish citizens. If vagrancy is a crime, then deporting a criminal is not a controversial stance. It is, in fact, standard operating procedure for any nation-state in the world that can afford to do so.
If you think “follow the law” is the part of his argument that I take issue with, you are being purposefully obtuse.
I see you being a fucking idiot.
What's the correct interpretation, then? Say it already, coward!
Please point to where they are advocating for an authoritarian government.
Hint: It's not in the posts "As I remember London" or "Wolves, sheep, and gypsies".
That doesn't sound fair does it? That's exactly what people are doing by making these claims without critical thinking and having their minds already made up.
“No one has provided me with a definition of fascism! I’ll provide my own!”
[removes everything from the definition except advocacy of authoritarian governments]
“See guys! YOU where wrong!”
Even with the stripped out version of the definition, that still clearly defines the current Republican regime. It's a self own if I've ever seen one.
DHH explicitly calls for a strong leader and that they must be followed. I read ONE of his blog posts to verify he's what everyone is saying he is, and ya in plain English he was parroting the same racist, racist, authoritarian bullshit every sad loser who refuses to go to therapy is spouting. Literally break bread with a black person, get offline and read a book written by a famous dead marginalized person (like Frankenstein or something it's not hard to find an applicable and enjoyable book), and realize poor immigrants can't afford the housing in London and then think about why housing everyone is getting more expensive AND the world has a trillionaire.
It's really not very hard to draw the correct connections vs the wrong one.
Holy fuck lol
The standing definition in left-of-center bubbles seems to be "people who have said a thing somebody with social media influence didn't like". Funny how these things flip, when I was young it used to be the crazy right-wing christians who did that, and leftists and anarchists were the voice of sanity.
You're a fucking twit.
Lol, no they won't.
They are people, and they do have every right to live there lives, but not consequence free. Racists, bigots, etc all deserve the hate they get. By using products they create and profit from, the user is helping fund that person's beliefs and actions. I for one gladly will not use their products. The little bit of extra work keeping mental tabs on those products or companies and doing my best to avoid them is far better than supporting them in any way. I don't always avoid them and in some cases it's not feasibly possible, but I can try.
Every battery and piece of electronics on planet Earth is made from raw materials sourced from child and forced labor all over the world.
Nobody has any room to even attempt to argue that lamenting the loss of your cultural identity is somehow fascist.
Like I said, I try to avoid things when it's feasible. Cutting electronica out isn't feasible.
Here are the core principles of fascism. Republicans check all of the boxes. That's why we call them fascists. It's not just a knee jerk title to draw shock it's a fitting title based on their actions. Feel free to try and dispute any of that.
Core Characteristics of Fascism.
crickets
Sure, MAGA republicans are fascists. I don't think that needs to be disputed.
Still a bit hazy how DHH and silly little project relates to all this.
Then go read DHH's blog before you defend a guy with Nazi beliefs dude. Are you seriously responding everywhere in this thread and you're happy to call MAGA fascists but not DHH?! He's talking about the exact same political hate speech. "Migrants are bad, we need a strong leader, free speech is dying (but actually my only examples are racists and homophobes getting arrested for disturbing the peace)(explicitly not the Palestine speech arrests)" like not a single word about the ultra rich destroying his country and culture. Not a single word about valuing people who don't look like him. Not a single positive thing that would tell someone "oh this isn't a boilerplate nazi". He is nationalist, he is racist, he is afraid, and he is too stupid to point to the source of the problem that every country in the world is facing right now.
And you're defending him. A guy with nazi beliefs. Online, where everyone can write a note next to your username and go "defends Nazi's". And you're saying you haven't even read his blog?!
