Ed Sheeran just plays the standard pop chord lineup when he plays guitar. E, G, C, A, D. The rest of the guitar is wasted space in his hands. It’s definitely a joke about a musician specifically for musicians to laugh at.

His music is childishly simple and uses pretty much a singular method of music theory and the circle of fifths and caters wholly to the major scale. He writes baby music to be played on a baby guitar.

I never really could describe that until now, great term, "baby music" is exactly how I'd describe it. It's not like most pop has loads of depth, but his has like none. I literally felt like dozing out when I listened to a few clips.

No hate for people who like that, but it feels like listening to an uninteresting podcast for me.

Right, like elevator music but it hurts in your ears.

"I make elevators" - Elisha Otis

Hell, even elevator music isn’t afraid to noodle a scale from time to time.
