if you go the steam site https://store.steampowered.com/about/ and hit install i think it detects your OS and chooses the correct install package. on mine it starts a download for a .deb file, i think that installs it natively? i know so little... but if you search up "install steam" plus whatever distro i'm sure you'll find a lot of info
It does install correctly for your distro, and that way is full system access .deb file, flatpak is next best from what I read but when I setup my system VR required the .deb as flatpak and snap would not grant correct permissions and I am so far removed from when I used to live on the command line that I have forgotten many many things I used to take for granted. No longer a power user, I just want it to work
