I actually like this scenario for US elections. The two parties are throwing parties onto the two track options while the oligarchy creates and maintains the system. What we need here is to get this train off the tracks in the first place. The switches are our voting system. We get a chance to get off this train at the polls, but we always choose to get right back on.

No, that is the point. The one track is oligarchy. Switch track is partisanship. The tracks merge again after the station. There is another station every couple years.
