I mean it's implied so I can see why you might have missed it with out the context but every one of those points in the OP has the * - for white people
Some people may still be unaware of such an occurrence much less when it happened. Not trying to snip at the OP or anything but we have a fault in humanity that thinks this knowledge is memetic at times.
