Because the guy that owns DigitalOcean is a cunt.
who is also friends with DHH which is what the majority of these "donors" are. they're just his friends who just so happen to own these dumb tech companies.
Rails was explosive 15 to 20 years ago (I hated it and I think it made me a dumber programmer) so it kind of makes since that these two industry movers became close that"grew up" around the same time.
