What's even sadder is that in generic polls over 60% of Americans want a form of universal healthcare. The problem is the current system is so good at extracting money from people pushes for real change get immense push back from the entrenched medical industry. Even looking past the shitty corrupt insurance companies basically all pharmaceutical companies around the globe benefit from it too much to to let it go quietly. Americans only account for 27% of global income for pharma but are 64 - 78% of profits.
