Depends on your heatsource, my hotwater is heated with electricity as is my dishwasher. Using the hotwater supply would just mean heatloss from the tank to the dishwasher.
Your hot water tank is more efficient than the heating element in your dishwasher, and the water starting off hot instead of slowly getting heated reduces the runtime of the dishwasher.
No it isn’t. My hotwater tank uses a resistive heating element just like my dishwasher, and all resistive heating elements are 100% efficient. The difference being that I have ~20 meters of pipes from my hotwater tank to the dishwasher that’ll loose heat to the surroundings. so in my case, heating directly in the dishwasher is more efficient. If you have a heatpump (some other cheaper way) to heat your hot water, then it’s a different story. And the runtime really doesn’t bother me, it only runs at night when I’m sleeping and electricity is cheap, and so does my hotwater tank.
Look, man. Instead of just trying to argue back and forth with me over this, just go do some research on the internet, hopefully a little more than asking Gemini, and you'll find out all on your own. Outside of the US it's less common to hook to the hot side, but it's the norm in the US. The non US models take longer to wash because they have to heat each water exchange up from completely cold to like 130f. Most of Europe actually gets to have a leg up over the US for electric water heating elements to work a bit faster, because the electric grid in US runs at 120v and 60hz instead of 230v and 50hz. The higher voltage can heat water quicker. I don't know where you live.
