You'd think it would be hair color which is easier to spot at a distance, with the familiar "brighter is better" rule placing the blond[e]s on top.

Idk, I personally happen to look like a nazi propaganda poster, so I've literally never been discriminated against based on appearance anywhere I've ever lived. I haven't spent much time in China/Japan, though.

I'm not so sure, ginger women are often spectacularly attractive. Ginger men, though? Worth less than dirt. Their only value is the chance to make ginger girls.
