Oh, you're taking the guy at face value. Yeah no, that would be insane, right? I read him as a burned-out bad luck nebbish who has massive blatant trauma and talks shit (externalises) to cope. Not a hero by any means, but definitely a person in pain whose heart isn't that far from the right place.
