I have so many questions. How does it differentiate customers? Like say I'm standing in line just off to the side behind someone buying a few big ticket items, when the face scan happens how will it know which face to charge? Same question for a couple people checking out together. Will I have to take my hat and sunglasses off to check out or does it use other technologies to build face maps like lidar? What if I got a broken nose or fractured orbital, can I just not buy things? What about beards, if a guy scans his face initially with a beard and shaves it, how will the system respond? Is there an upper limit on purchases made this way like there is with tap to pay? What will it do about age verified products like tobacco or alcohol?
I would bet money they didn't test for any of that and if they did it would be within very narrow parameters.
Bro, don't kill the vibes with all of this very real world shit that will actually happen. Just smile for the camera and it will all be over soon.
Yes, these are all problems that will be solved very, very quickly once this launches and totally fails and we never hear about it again.
How easy is it to use it to scam people? If I smile in public, can I get photographed and that used to pay things? Is a smiling photo the next “they stole my card”?
Can we all just carry around a photo of Bezos, Musk, or a Rothschild or Rockerfeller, or CEOs of insurance companies, etc?
That's it, I'm never smiling again!
How will they handle twins or people who looks very close to each other?
The Intuit Dome in LA already does this. You grab food/drinks and it automatically charges you based on your face. And you guessed it, there have been many complaints about people getting charged for something they didn’t get. I’m never stepping foot inside that venue.
Airports already handle this on a daily basis:
Cameras scan only small field.
Probably the same as face unlock in iPhones. You can check how this works and apply answers here.
This is just another form of payment so it will do the same as credit card or cash.
That works because it's the TSA agent's responsibility to make it work. This will not apply to your average stoned gas station employee.
Additionally, this system checks against specifically the driver's license photo.
No it doesn't. Yes it will. It's irrelevant.
