I have so many questions. How does it differentiate customers? Like say I'm standing in line just off to the side behind someone buying a few big ticket items, when the face scan happens how will it know which face to charge? Same question for a couple people checking out together. Will I have to take my hat and sunglasses off to check out or does it use other technologies to build face maps like lidar? What if I got a broken nose or fractured orbital, can I just not buy things? What about beards, if a guy scans his face initially with a beard and shaves it, how will the system respond? Is there an upper limit on purchases made this way like there is with tap to pay? What will it do about age verified products like tobacco or alcohol?
I would bet money they didn't test for any of that and if they did it would be within very narrow parameters.

The Intuit Dome in LA already does this. You grab food/drinks and it automatically charges you based on your face. And you guessed it, there have been many complaints about people getting charged for something they didn’t get. I’m never stepping foot inside that venue.

Every online business that collects photo ID has been hacked and those IDs have been stolen. Just saying.
Yes but there's a big difference between IDs and biometric data, not to mention you can (in Europe at least) revoke an ID if you find it's compromised, you can revoke an ID you can't revoke your face.
This is the important part. Faces are immutable. Unless you're a weird celebrity, you only get one.
Attaching your financial data and/or private data to something that cannot be changed and CAN be stolen or reproduced is a terrible fucking idea.
While real security technologies are moving toward ephemeral, short-lived credentials to fight credential reuse and theft, we have these fucktards going in the complete opposite direction.

Despite not completely agreeing with the method, flying into Japan is so easy now. Literately just go get my passport sticker-ed, the more stickers the less questions, look in the camera, grab my luggage, check in a podium terminal and mark that you don't have pets and find out what exit to go through, and then walk out, another camera scans your face as you walk out. I would say the only thing that's slow is the baggage claim. Korea is really bad with this one.
I think eventually it will be inevitable. But I'll stick with cash as long as I can, not having something in your hand makes it really easy to overspend.
It's going to be great when I can walk up to someone with a Point-of-Sale app on my phone, scan their face and charge them money.
