Rules:

- No memes, trolling, misinformation, or low-effort posts/comments (including reposts). If you see posts like this that anger you, do not engage. Report, block, and live a happier life than they do. Any slap-fight is subject to comment removals. Fights full of rule violations will result in temporary bans to cool off.
- No manipulating votes via bots or alt accounts; this will result in permanent bans. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.
- No hate speech, slurs, celebrating death, advocating violence, or abusive language. This will result in an account ban. Usernames containing racist, or inappropriate slurs will be permanently banned.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules and use critical thinking when reading, posting, and commenting. Users that repeatedly have comments or posts removed, weaponize reports, or violate the code of conduct, will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. MODERATORS
A national strike would probably be more palatable if there were trusted community organizations that could help the most vulnerable who can't go without pay, even for short periods. It doesn't just have to be cash they distribute, in-kind goods or services would be useful too.
This is what people mean when they say voting isn't enough to make meaningful change. Get to know your neighbors and take care of each other. The state is less scary when you have solidarity.
The German revolutions saw those things just taken and given to the people.
How long do you think a given Walmart could support people for?
Not long, everything is just-in-time.
Farmers were paid with capital and items siezed from banks and merchants.
The just in time month's worth of rice for a family can last 4 families a week.
It just has to support people who can't support themselves long enough to set up proper supply lines.
While this is an important topic, my original comment was simply about strike support. I think a huge barrier for people is how daunting direct action can be. If people can support each other through strikes and other acts of solidarity, planning for more impactful disruptions will be more manageable.
