This guy has literally never spoken to a single member of the Canadian military in his life.

I know soldiers in the CAF. There is no one in Canada more gung-ho to fight the yanks than the CAF. Even the guys who used to be big Trump fans, even the far right assholes, they're all ready to throw hands. The few soldiers who still like Trump are treated as absolute pariahs right now. Everyone else accuses them of being cowards and traitors. Even if the Canadian government sent out an order to lay down arms, 90% of the CAF would ditch their uniforms and become insurgents. There's shit I've heard people say that I can't even share here because it would get people in serious trouble. Some of it because they shouldn't be saying it, and some of it because civilians like me aren't supposed to know about it.

Also, his digression about the threat modelling shows the depths of his ignorance. Yes, there are American liaison officers in Ottawa, of course there are. We're in two separate military alliances with the US. That doesn't prevent us from theory crafting about a possible US invasion, because that kind of thing is completely normal. Militaries plan for every possible eventuality because that's their job.

This video is the biggest load of horseshit I've ever seen. Every single word of it was spectacularly and outlandishly wrong in some way or another. Whatever this guy might be good at, talking about the Canadian military isn't it.

yup I work with a guy that was in the Canadian Armed Forces. He goes on about this all the time and says if it ever happens him and his old CAF buddies would re-enlist instantly. no questions. dude is itching to kill american soldiers. This is a guy who when he sees a telsa or cybertruck will spit on the ground and say "fucking nazis" all the time.

And I don't think the average american understands how much we Canadians will fight for this country. not just our Armed Forces but average citizens and I mean hell once you go north of Southern Ontario the americans would be in for a world of hurt. I used to live in Northern Ontario and pretty much every dude up there has a rifle and all work in the bush. Half of me almost wants the americans to try it just to find out the cluster fuck they'd get themselves into.

If they can't take Iran out, they sure as fuck ain't taking us out.

There are guys I know of in the CAF who used to be hardcore Trump fans. Guys who would constantly whine about how they wish Canada was more like the US. Guys who idolized the American military.

Those same guys would shoot Trump in the face if they saw him now.

Yeah, they're still right wing chuds. Yeah they still agree with 90% of his rhetoric. But none of that matters. He threatened our sovereignty. The moment that happened, he was dead to them.

And, I cannot emphasize this enough... the CAF as a whole is way less right wing than people think.

I regularly hang out with active duty reg force soldiers, and the ones I know are a mix of NDP voters, gay liberals, and genuine communists and anarchists. The CAF is a hugely mixed crowd. And while the enlisted do tend to skew somewhat conservative on the whole, the officers are all highly educated people (degrees are a requirement for officers) who tend to be much more liberal or left leaning.

It's not unusual for these guys to pick "the KKK" as their fictional enemies for section attack training. I've seen a warrant threaten to punch out anyone they catch being transphobic. I know a retired gunner who goes on loud, unprompted rants about what a fucking asshole Pollievre is.

This mentality that the CAF are a bunch of Trump worshipping proto-nazis is ignorant idiotic hogwash from misguided leftists who've never stepped a toe outside of their bubble and it genuinely hurts the left wing cause in Canada because there is so much support just waiting for us in the CAF if we stopped treating them all as a write-off.
