Happy to answer any questions folk have, as I was lucky enough to get one. (Not OP, or the video creator)
Are you doing pcvr with a Linux machine? I'm interested to know what kernel you're on, if so. I ordered one and am on 7.1 but am seeing reports that the dongle doesn't work appropriately unless you're on 7.2 - I'm also concerned that newer Nvidia drivers aren't stable for Deadlock (steam game) so am apprehensive to unpin those drivers for update at this point.
Outside of that, has the experience been relatively plug and play or did you find yourself adjusting a ton of settings before you were up and gaming?
I'm afraid my VR is currently via Windows, so I can't currently answer your first question.
It has been entirely play, though, as I didn't even bother plugging the wireless adapter in yet (had been curious about streaming via my network to another, less cramped room and it works really well!)
I had a look through the various settings to try and see if there was anything I wanted to tweak immediately, but didn't adjust anything yet and have been having a good experience.
How is the desktop mode for normal work?
I... Haven't tried pairing a normal mouse and keyboard. Trying to type stuff into the Dolphin address bar is a bit clunky with the controllers. And drag/drop is super sensitive and prone to miss and make a mess. But there's a desktop mode, and it works. It comes with almost nothing, but you can easily install flatpaks.
I wanted to use a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse because the Frame just has the one USB port, but the KDE Plasma settings don't even have a Bluetooth option. I use KDE Plasma on basically every computer, so I know where it's supposed to be. But I can connect via the Bluetooth settings in game mode.
When connected, the keyboard works fine. It operates exactly as you would expect it to on any other computer. Nothing to say about that.
But for the mouse, the pointer (the little arrow, hand, cursor, etc. that indicates where your mouse is located onscreen) seems to be bound to only the VR controllers. If you try moving the mouse, it's like the onscreen pointer is just invisible . It will activate the tooltips of page elements when you hover over them and stuff like that, and you can certainly click. But without actually seeing the pointer, a mouse is pretty useless. You can make the pointer appear by doing the "shake mouse to increase pointer size" gesture, but when you stop shaking, it disappears again.
