MODERATORS
Seems competent public transport and walkable areas would help by enabling people with options to not have you drive home from the bar.
What I don't understand is why bars can even have parking lots, it's like the expectation is to drive there, drink and then drive home.
Designated drivers, employee parking, and for people that just want food. On top of that, at least as things stand, parking minimums mean they literally aren't allowed to go without parking.
Seems also that better zoning laws and less car-centric sprawl would make the bar, on average, closer to home. (Not my insight; aped from NotJustBikes' video on third places.)
Tax alcohol sales and earmark it for public transportation. Use late night busses, espically on non 24 hour Rail metro routes
Further, don't punish people that drove in and made the smart choice to leave their vehicle over night. Not sure how to properly police that, but rarely is parking free, so maybe just make it a 24 hr thing rather than some hourly shit that costs money up front and a ticket on the back.
They shouldn't tow cars from bars for 48 hours so you can go back and get it. Or you tell the bar you're gonna come back for it and they make a note then trig legally can't tow it or they become liable for drunk driving
