Off My Chest
RULES:
I am looking for mods!
1. The "good" part of our community means we are pro-empathy and anti-harassment. However, we don't intend to make this a "safe space" where everyone has to be a saint. Sh*t happens, and life is messy. That's why we get things off our chests.
2. Bigotry is not allowed. That includes racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and religiophobia. (If you want to vent about religion, that's fine; but religion is not inherently evil.)
3. Frustrated, venting, or angry posts are still welcome.
4. Posts and comments that bait, threaten, or incite harassment are not allowed.
5. If anyone offers mental, medical, or professional advice here, please remember to take it with a grain of salt. Seek out real professionals if needed.
6. Please put NSFW behind NSFW tags.

you wouldnt know if you were white, living in a white area and never encountered a poc.
I grew up not thinking about racial biases because I was white and in a 99.9% white area. There were no people of color in my school, so race never came up. My classmates had queer people to bully.
Then I went several states away for college and started noticing things. Even my mom, who would swear she wasn't racist, thinks it's fair that black men are incarcerated for far longer that white folks for comparable crimes.
Tangent: our area was so overwhelmingly white my little brother was confused when he first saw a black man in line at the grocery store. He asked my mom "what's wrong with his skin?" My mom told the man "I'm sorry, he doesn't get out much," before explaining to my brother that people come in all sorts of colors. (not sure how old he was, but he was at least kindergarten-age.)
