Chevrolet Bolt Dies Next Year After A Disappointing Return

Overview:
Electric Vehicles are a key part of our tomorrow and how we get there. If we can get all the fossil fuel vehicles off our roads, out of our seas and out of our skies, we'll have a much better environment. This community is where we discuss the various different vehicles and news stories regarding electric transportation.

When my parents were looking for an EV, I didn’t even bother looking at anything from an American brand. Chevy was all “No CarPlay or android auto in new EVs” And I was like “oh GM, please go die in a fire, you’re a waste of market space.”
My past Bolt had carplay and android auto, did they change it? If so, dumb.
Yeah, in 2023 they announced that they would phase out CarPlay And android auto in EVs while continuing to support it in their ICE models starting with the 2024 Chevy Blazer EV.

The Honda Prologue, which is basically a rebranded Blazer EV, still has Android Auto. But it's also being discontinued after 2026.
But I thought no one wanted spyware in cars??
Yeah people can't figure out what they want haha
no there's a hundred or so of them.
I'm personally ambivalent but insisted on a Chinese ev (we have a BYD here in Australia) as they're not reporting anything to my government but my GF loves it and uses it to warm the car in winter before she heads to work in the morning.
I also don't use Android auto in the car for that reason and am happy with in car navigation.
there are a few no connected services ev's here in Australia; Cupra, Subaru, VW and Toyota spring to mind. Their biggest complaint is no connected services :)
Which is funny because a lot of those same complaints aren't directed at Tesla or rivian, etc
I didn’t look at any of those either actually.
My partner decided to take out a loan on his 2023 Chevy Bolt rather than pay in full, with the idea if the new model came out with features he wanted (mainly continued support for Comma self driving) he would do a trade-in. Then we saw the news that the new Chevy Bolt is basically a downgrade in terms of things like not having Android Auto anymore, so he just paid off the loan in full and has no interest in "upgrading." Chevy shot themselves in the foot; US EV manufacturers need to get their shit together.
