A fine? Does the religion carve out exceptions in exchange for money, or do they just disregard the religion in exchange for money?
Either way, it might be interesting if she can (SAFELY) keep doing it at every show and the budget can cover the fines as a business expense. Maybe she could help normalize it a bit. (I assume that would be a good thing, but I admit that I'm pretty ignorant on the topic.)
She could only pay the fine because she had no prior criminal record - it's mentioned in the article.
You're referring to this part, right?
Does a criminal record include cash fines in Iran, or does she continue having no criminal record?
If it's like pretty much anywhere else, the fine simply replaces the lashes in the sentencing phase. The conviction happened long before that and is separate.
~~Does the~~ religion ~~carve out exceptions in exchange for~~ money.
Fixed it for you.
Perhaps call it an Indulgence?
Tbf if you count Zakat, Islam does let you get away with some sin so long as you give money to people in need, tho I don't think old men running the government are exactly "people in need."
You think this money will go to "old men running the government"? It goes into the state's budget like all other revenue. This complaint is like complaining speeding fines will go to old men running the government.
Whether you agree or disagree with these fines, it's indisputable that iran still has a more functional, less corrupt government than say, Egypt or Saudi or Kuwait or Iraq or any number of regional US allies
It will go towards missiles which can be shot at Israel in this case. A good cause.
