What's with the pump colors? Are they like that in some countries?
I don't understand why the US lacks some of these kinds of small, helpful visual cues.
It's like the dollar bills all being green (and the same size?). If you have limited vision it's really hard to see the difference between the bills. I think every other currency I know will use different colours (and sizes) for each bill to make them easier to distinguish.
Same with street signs. Why use text like "speed limit" or "one way" when you can use symbols and colours for this? For people who can't read (English) it's so unnecessarily confusing.
And a last example I noticed again recently... Why is the nutritional information text on American products so confusing? It only says the amount of sugar, fat, carbs etc per serving. But a serving is such an arbitrary amount sometimes, I basically always want to know the percentage too so I can much more easily compare products. Like this.
I'm sure there's some things that are designed better in the US, but I remember these things from when I went to visit years ago and being quite surprised.
Yeah. Instead of having buttons for different grades, they just have different pumps. Also looking back at it, one is probably diesel, and one (the green one likely) is eco fuel / ethanol
Green is petrol
Black is diesel
Others are random shit like premium
It is required for diesel vs regular but not the different grades. there will always be fuel in the hose between each pump and therefore it will always mix.
I thought I recalled Premium and Regular being on differ hoses tho. Just from my brief tenure abroad
Yeah even in the US diesel and E85 (eco fuel / ethanol) have different hoses and different larger nozzle sizes cause they can ruin an engine that doesn’t support them.
Some engines require it yes, but it's still the same fuel and mixing in a tiny bit of regular with premium is not the same as mixing a little bit of diesel with premium.
Oh okay, here in the US green is always diesel, and the pumps wouldn't be multi-colored like that on the left, they're all solid colors.
Green should be cheese and onion.
That's a really good point 😳
In Canada diesel is usually yellow
Omg yellow is I guess what we'd call eco fuel, usually e85, but it's not really widespread, depending on where you live you may never see e85 fuel
