I appreciate it, but I'm honestly sick of the slop police.
I don't like the idea of being tricked by AI either, nor the impact AI has on the environment, but I the slop police everywhere, and don't add much to the conversation. The whole thing is generally tiring.
Pointing out 'hey bro, this is AI' and still discussing the post would be a better approach in my book. Not all doctored images are slop either - Photoshop exists and was how shitposts were made for a really long time. We still discussed those posts, and how silly they were.
Then keep slop in pro-GenAI echo chambers.
(Or if it isn't slop, bring evidence.)
The option to "opt out" of slop has been deliberately denied us by the whole god-damned GenAI grift industry. The only way we have to opt out of slop is to shame those who spread it.
I get your point, and honestly, it's a fair one. I'm not pro slop, and I state that above.
By inundating the web with slop, AI proponents have made it really hard to post/share stuff that's not slop.
I am, however, a shtiposter. I've got 4500 posts over 3.3 years. I'm simply not going to verify everything I post isnt AI. As I said, I do check usually, but theres a lack of tools to do so, and the ones that are out there that I've found are checks notes AI, which defeats the purpose. If you have good tools, paste them here and I'll start using them. I'm not going on a fucking Goose hunt each time I share a meme, though.

I try to avoid it, and do some checks where I can't but some stuff still trickles through given how much I post.
While I agree with your stance in the broadest terms, I think you're fighting a losing battle, just given how fast slop can be turned out and how wide spread it is already.

Just stop posting slop. It isn't that hard.
So that's a good reason to add to the problem? Maybe post less but better quality, instead of high quantity slop. The entire problem with the enshitification of the internet is the vast quantity of people posting so much unverified fake news, slop and other junk. There is no excuse for doing this. Just fucking stop being the problem.

Counterpoint: Not adding much to conversation is the point. Don't feed the troll. Don't eat the slop. For real convo use real things not corrupted by slopmachines.

You forgot key ingredient and what sparked the comment chain - under slop post. Post something normal and folk may respond differently. Post slop, get hit with anti-slop sticker as caution for others and ignored.

Nah, ignore the slop and fuck the slopslingers. I appreciate the slop police because it can be hard to tell sometimes, and being made aware an image is slop can help me get better at identifying it myself in the future. Also people who post slop need to be told that it fucking sucks, because if I wanted to see garbage with no emotion, I'd just watch Fox News, because at least those robots used to have souls
No, the police are necessary. AI rot causes actual damage to both people and the environment.
