!nostupidquestions is a community dedicated to being helpful and answering each others' questions on various topics.
The rules for posting and commenting, besides the rules defined here for lemmy.world, are as follows:

MODERATORS
There are a couple answers talking about becoming more rich/outcompeting them.
If you become the richest person ever or outcompete them, you'd likely be worse than they are now, and then you'd be the one people would want to shut down.
This isn't really a question about those specific companies, but what they represent. If you're taking the question seriously (joke answers are fine of course!), then the problem can't be solved by becoming like them or "beating them at their own game", because that's literally what caused the problem in the first place.
The problem can only be solved by living a non-greedy life, abandoning "career advancement" or similar, and instead doing "the right thing" at all times, even if it requires personal sacrifice. If you live your life that way, you'll likely inspire others to do the same. In the end, the answer of course is "an individual can not shut these companies down", but if everyone acted like I'm saying, then these companies would get shut down by no one working for them anymore.
In the end, you have to answer the question "if everyone acted like me, would the problem still be there?", and if the answer is no, then you're successful. That everyone does actually act like you is not really important.
I wrote one of those answers and yeah, no, I got that. I just thought this issue would be obvious, which makes it funny, but my delivery might have been too subtle.
No worries, that's why I added the part of "joke answers are fine of course :)". It's hard to tell over text. And like all satire, it's satire because some do actually think that way. I didn't want to take anything away from you or criticize you specifically, I think it's just important for such a thread to have a few serious answers :)
to be fair, shutting down yourself is pretty easy on the corporate espionage scale.
