Quebec independence is less about closing itself off and more about opening itself up to the world, just no longer under canada's wing.

Also realistically independence would come with a schengen-like border accord.

Do any of these provinces that want to leave Canada have the military might to fight off the Americans? Cause there's a nearly 100% chance they'd be taken over, especially with the current admin down there.

By that logic canada would also be taken over, an independent Québec would still be part of NATO.

I will say alberta would get vassalised though, they're already offering mineral rights and stuff to the US for help seperating.

To be honest, there's a pretty good chance that Canada is taken over if things continue on the path they're on now.

It'll be bloody as fuck, but lets be real, right wing politics here is not different than it is anywhere else. And since all we really have is Far Right and Right and Center-Right parties, we're plenty close to it happening for real.
