At least the CAQ is out for good. But I'm very concerned about the minority being with the Liberals. They were the only zionist party on the ballot.

Source re: being the only Zionists? I thought the CAQ was also Zionist.

Oh shoot you're right. They did open the embassy in Israel.

Only QS mentioned being pro-Palestine in their platform

[-] isVeryLoud@lemmy.ca 1 points 20 hours ago

Yup that was my understanding

It's kind of hard to say since it hasn't really been an issue in the election, but that was my impression aswell.

It's probably fine, since the PQ will work with QS or the PCQ before they work with the liberals.

The PQ are opportunists and will work with whoever is the most convenient at the time

Why does everyone think that their culture is so great that they need their own country. We don't need more borders but less. Culture is for sharing and if some tradition falls into obscurity maybe wasn't that important after all.

I'm all for abandoning stupid traditions anyways. Our absession with traditions has reached a point where it is getting stupid. Just because someone somewhere started doing something doesn't mean we it's worth preserving and doing forever. A lot of traditions are not even that old and we didn't have the luxury of so many traditions when most people couldn't read or write.

It's a shame that we are clinging on to what makes us different when we should instead stand together to halo and support each other. We are all more similar that different, hurtling on a rock through space. We are all human.

Well said! We all bleed red and should eventually merge into one global unit. This is the day and age of special interests, specific agendas and propaganda dictating forward progression, though. I can't believe you'd get downvotes for a statement like this. My families history is of Scottish blood. My culture, growing up in western Canada, is american television.

Quebec independence is less about closing itself off and more about opening itself up to the world, just no longer under canada's wing.

Also realistically independence would come with a schengen-like border accord.

Do any of these provinces that want to leave Canada have the military might to fight off the Americans? Cause there's a nearly 100% chance they'd be taken over, especially with the current admin down there.

[-] Blisterexe@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago

By that logic canada would also be taken over, an independent Québec would still be part of NATO.

I will say alberta would get vassalised though, they're already offering mineral rights and stuff to the US for help seperating.
