I'm glad I upgraded from 32 GB to 64 GB in like 2022. I was annoyed at the time because the price per-gig had already doubled since I built the computer in late 2020. (And video cards were already more expensive than when I'd browsed in early 2020.)
Here's the dumbest part, possibly beating any chicanery about neural networks - it's because I ran two browsers. I was doing web dev with both Firefox and Chromium, and still routinely thrashing. Linux Mint's cache behavior was the third stooge trying to fit through that doorway shoulder-to-shoulder, and suddenly thirty-two entire gigabytes was not enough memory to browse reddit in the orange window with video streaming in the blue window.
