Have you noticed yet the pervading visual noise that sits at the very front of your vision?
The colorful shifting shimmers that play on even in the dark.
Ya know, eye tinnitus.
I have this when I'm not feeling mentally well. The visual noise is actually a sign for me that I should be extra careful to be nice to others because it's not them who are more annoying today, it's me.

This. I have bilateral PVD's. My retina guy said all the gunk would eventually dissolve.
It’s been almost fifteen years. It has not dissolved.
If you’ve got excess floaters you should have your eyes checked. It can be an indication of something else going wrong.
Macular degeneration for one.
