I have known people who do that with the focus being on hiking, nature, learning, and exploration. The nice camp helps with the exhausting effort theu put into the day.
I've also known people who just get drunk and sleep in a tent, which seems more in the spirit and far less laudable.
Yep, I've been both, for sure, and I hear ya. Not so much the drinking anymore, and the former was just as often leading a group/class for science adventures, but yeah. Camping, et al, is near to my own heart and I hold it sacred as a method of meditation and re-centering, so there's some crotchety in there re: popularizing the luxurification of the whole thing. I mean, the Ship of Theseus is an entirely different question when someone's opened a gift shop onboard. ๐
I was gonna say that's way too much junk food for a road trip, but then I realized that's like two bags of chips and a candy bar these days.
And the bags of chips have 5 chips in them combined and the candy bar is the size of my pinky toe
Especially at convenience store prices.
(You can't buy road trip snacks at a normal grocery store. Just doesn't have the right vibe.)
Said "vibe" seems like it's slipping into boujie "glamping is camping" territory, ngl. ๐๐ผโโ๏ธ
