Democratic leaders in the U.S. House of Representatives have condemned a raid on Rep. Ilhan Omar's home as "deeply disturbing" and accused the Trump administration of a "rogue abuse of power" just weeks ahead of November's midterm elections.

Let's see if they do anything besides strong words and maybe some paddles.

but you’re saying if it’s a non-socialist Democrat versus a Republican, you want the Republican to win

We're saying if its fascist or fascist-lite, we'll select neither in order to pressure fascist-lite to do better. And if the Dems still dont wanna then they can lose. Its the only way to prerssure them. We cant play chicken we have to give them real consequences.

Sorry, but that doesn't really make sense. Here are your options:

You don't vote at all, or vote third party: If you totally sit out the vote, you are having no effect, or are voting for the status quo by omission.

You vote republican: You are voting for the worst outcome.

You vote democrat: You are voting harm reduction.

Now to be clear:

  1. "Harm reduction" is not just about you. It's about LGBTQ people, it's about people who are on ACA who will die due to continued cuts, it's about immigrants who are going to be abused. Even if you think the democrats are "fascism-lite" (which I think is severely reductionist), you are severely downplaying, to the point that it mirrors GOP lack of empathy, the harms others are experiencing due to your refusal to vote for harm reduction.

  2. In the primary, please, please vote for the most progressive person you can find, and let corporate democrats eat all the dicks. But in the general, please don't just think of yourself and your emotional response of "screw them all!" Because "them all" includes your allies.

P.S.: Also, what is the point of downvoting good faith discussion? It really is not nice.

You're right, and I see the hope for pressuring to work but doubtful. If Harris won there wouldn't be all this damage to the world. Wouldn't have all the suffering in concentration camps paid by taxes, and they would be contributing to the communities they were. Things were better two years ago and all the regression is directly related to bad maga choices. All the blame on Biden for global issues was dumb, but too many don't care or know better so it will continue unfortunately.

[-] NonconfrontationaI@lemmy.ml 1 points 6 hours ago

You think blaming Biden for the genocide he actively supported is dumb?

[-] Soggy@lemmy.world 2 points 11 hours ago

These ideal purists don't believe in harm reduction. The actual outcome isn't important, they only care that their hands are clean.

[-] edible_funk@lemmy.world -5 points 9 hours ago

They're not debating in good faith. They're accelerationists and both sidesers, they work for MAGA.

[-] NonconfrontationaI@lemmy.ml 0 points 6 hours ago

Accelerationists wouldn't support maga. Congrats on learning a new word, but it works better when you know what it means.

[-] edible_funk@lemmy.world 0 points 6 hours ago

Hello brand new account attempting to discourage voting!

[-] NonconfrontationaI@lemmy.ml 0 points 5 hours ago

Nope, vote as much as you can!

What else ya got?

[-] edible_funk@lemmy.world -2 points 9 hours ago

So you'll accelerate the fascism to punish the significantly empirically less fascist group? Sound fuckin logic there brainiac. So you want fascism. You're a fascist accelerationist.

[-] kreskin@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

I sure am, but I do hope the dems leadership pulls their heads out of their arses before the system immolates, but I'm not going to stand around while the government oils the gears of our half assed democracy with the blood of innocents. If it literally takes blood to continue, then it needs to end. You're just whining because you are so sure the blood wont be yours-- when you shouldnt be sure. Thats ghoulish, bud. And a tad evil and short sighted. But you do you.

[-] berno@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

The Dems will stand around with their dicks in their hands while the whole thing implodes. There's no common sense in that tent

[-] Yuccagnocchiyaki@lemmy.world -1 points 8 hours ago

So you admit that Democrats are fascist, just not AS fascist as those Republicans they bump elbows with and share donors with, right?

[-] edible_funk@lemmy.world 1 points 8 hours ago

No I'm saying your "logic" is stupid and self defeating because it is.

[-] Yuccagnocchiyaki@lemmy.world 0 points 8 hours ago

That would be YOUR words, GENIUS

How can one accelerate what is not there to begin with?
