Both the left and right 100% worship at the altar of capitalism. What the people want doesnt factor into much except the votes every 2-4 years, which are heavily steered and give us little real democratic control of our future. The party can and does change its nominating process anytime it wants to, and DNC lawyers argued in Sanders vs DNC that they are under no obligation to follow any rules. One of their key tenets is no foreign troops on their soil. We dont even resupply our ships there. It was a major event in 2016 when we resupplied a single ship there and it hasnt repeated. We have no shared airstrip and no operational capability centered out of there. We have a single joint owned radar station with a dozen men in it in the negev.

American fighters were not even allowed to land in Israel when they were defending Israel from Iranian missiles. They operated out of Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan.

Israel is flatly not an important ally, much less the most important ally. Lebanon was an ally. Jordan is an ally, as is Turkey. Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Qatar are also key allies. The thing all our allies have in common is that they have a problem with Israel.
