Anecdotally, I have seen much less pro-Republican sentiment on the Facebook feed for my local newspaper. Usually anything related to Paxton or Trump is heavily “yay MAGA! go USA!” and name calling against liberals. Since the attack, I’ve barely seen any of that narrative and it’s people calling them out for their actions.

Could that mean that the entire user base had a change of heart and flipped? Sure, but unlikely.

Anecdotally you should understand what sample noise and confirmation bias are.

The bots that went silent were search indexers

I’m trying to figure out why there is a small vocal minority so hell bent on saying “it’s not those bots!”. What purpose does it serve? It’s like the kid who’s hand is stuck in the cookie jar trying to deflect to something else.

So tell me, why are you pushing things so hard?

I think I've made two comments to that effect so I don't really understand the premise of your question.

I try to correct untruths and didn't think there was any special reason needed to do so.

Why does it strike you as something needing justification? Even from a perspective of someone not necessarily agreeing on the facts, I don't understand why this would come across as anything other than someone commenting about their perspective, which is... the whole point of discussion-based social media like Lemmy.

The automated request traffic (potential bots) simply moved elsewhere, the initial impact was still felt at the Cloudflare level.
